Testimony of Mey Lee

My name is Mey Lee, 22 years old(Vietnamese). I am a teacher at Happy school now. My family is a Christian.

Today I want to share my testimony about my life in 2013.

At that time my family was very poor, so could not go to school. But by the grace of God, I came to know through Pastor Soram that there was a bible school in Kompongsom. When I went there to register my name, the principal did not allow me because I did not know to speak English or Khmer. But after hearing my story of poor life, he felt pity on me, so he allowed me to stay at KBS dormitory. But I could not attend KBS class because I did not understand English or Khmer. So they decided me to attend the Primary school class(KCS) primary two in order to learn Khmer alphabet. At that time I was 14 years old. I cried everyday because I did not know anyone in the school. There were my friends at first who came with me together from PhnomPenh but they returned to PhnomPenh one by one because of homesickness.

I was left alone. Even I felt loneliness, I did not give up study. All my classmates were much younger than me. They were 7 or 8 years old. I felt shameful. If you were in my place, you also should feel same way with me. But I played with them happily, and also took care of them as a elder sister. When I saw their smiles, I could forget my sadness and loneliness. I also learned much about Christian songs and Children's ministry from teacher Tongan and teacher Trina. They also taught me many bible stories.

I learned how big God's love is. Just knowing God was not enough for me.  So I decided that I also must serve God in order to teach God's love to the children by involving children's activities.  I also helped them children service on Sunday School, and a bible class on Friday, and went to Ou Vietnam village where many Vietnamese are living together at seaside. I taught Vietnamese language, children songs, and bile to that children twice a week. Also I followed some mission trips to Thmorbang, KohKong, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Kompot, Kompongcham, and did children ministry with the team. It was joy to me. I also wanted to be like child when I taught children. I really wanted ti deliver God's love to the children as I have received it. I want to see their praising with smiles, their reading bible, their comings to God's righteousness. I know it is not easy to follow God. But I trust God more than anything else. I believe God more than my abilities.

If I did not stay at this school, I could not have learned much about God.

I thank God that He prepared the way for me. I stayed there 7 years, from 2013 to 2020, and finished primary school and secondary school. The school is like my second home.

This bible verse, Mark 10:14, always encouraged me.
"Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God."
