Congratulatory Message to Kompongsom Bible School on the occasion of Your 20th Anniversary Thanksgiving (Sep.2017)

Dear Rev Moses Hahn, Faculty and Students of KBS,

The Session and members of Life B-P Church greet you in the matchless name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ!

We greatly rejoice with you on this important milestone of your 20th Anniversary. May your hearts be filled with praise to our loving Father as you recall His faithful provision and abundant blessings to you for the past two decades.

We remember how the work began in September 1997 with Rev Hahn teaching English at a secondary school, until KBS was started in 1998 with seven students. The years spent in laboring and praying have borne much fruit as God opened doors for you to train more workers for the ministry, plant churches throughout Cambodia, start a Christian school ministry and a Prison ministry, and host Revival camps annually. By God's grace KBS has graduated 130 students, and most of them are serving in establishing local churches, and in educating children and youths in Bible knowledge, English and music.

May you be encouraged with these words from His Word, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 15:58)

We pray that the Lord will bless you and keep you steadfast and devoted to Him as you continue to serve Him and glorify Him in the years ahead, and until our Lord Jesus Christ returns!

Life Bible-Presbyterian Church (Life BPC) Spearheaded the Establishment of the Kompongsom Bible School (KBS) - A Summary of the Lord's Ministry

In June 1997, Rev Jimmy Rim came to stay at Beulah House, Life BPC Singapore, to escape from the civil unrest in Cambodia. He delivered a message to the congregation of Life BPC of the urgency of the mission field in Cambodia. Life BPC responded by sending three Korean missionaries and some short-term Singaporean missionaries to Cambodia from 1997.

Rev Moses Hahn was one of the three Korean missionaries. He graduated with a Master (Divinity) from FEBC in June 1997 and waited for God's calling to serve. He started God's ministry at Kompong Som, Cambodia in September 1997 and in January 1998, he established the Kompongsom Bible School (KBS).

From 1997 to 1999, Life BPC sent many relief goods, such as rice, canned food, milk powder, clothing, toy, amounting to 10 containers. These were delivered to many villages in Cambodia which were in extreme poverty. The Government under Prime Minister Hun Sen gave a letter of appreciation to Life BPC.

Since January 1998, the Kompongsom Bible School saw more than 130 theological students graduated with the Diploma of Theology, which is a three years full time study. Most of them are serving the Lord by establishing local churches, educating children and youths in English, music, as well as the Bible.

In 2000, at the request of the governor of Pailin, Rev Jimmy Rim and KBS started mission work in Pailin by teaching the children and youth. It included Bible studies.

KBS established Ottabao school in Pailin and it provided education from primary one to six for almost one hundred students for several years. Now it has been stopped due to public school which was opened nearby. Subsequently, KBS established ministry at Bohui of mountain area of Pailin. Later, a Hong Kong church took over the ministry and started school ministry. The school provides education from kindergarten to primary six with over 150 students. Most of the teachers are from KBS.

In 2007, land disputes erupted at the village of Ottres, which was near to the KBS. The children were living in tents along the streets. KBS decided to bring the children of Ottres to KBS and provided education to them. The children were brought to the school by the KBS truck and given formal education from primary one to six. When the children graduated from primary school, KBS continue to provide accommodation and food for the children attending the government secondary school. Praise God that some of them continued to study at the local university and high school.
Currently, 130 students are studying at KCS (Kompongsom Christian School). The students were not required to pay school fees. They were given, free of charge, school text books, back-packs, uniforms, and writing notebooks for the past 10 years.

In 2007, the prison ministry at Phnom Penh, Kompongcham, and Kohkong was established. Glory Presbyterian Church in Singapore ministered to these three prisons either once or twice a year. The ministry included treating the inmates who are sick, providing sufficient medicine and sometimes, even 6 months of medicine for patients who have high blood pressure or diabetes. KBS students conducted English and Khmer lessons, computer knowledge and music as often as 5 times a week. Many of the prisoners came to know the Lord Jesus Christ and hundreds of inmates had been baptised through this prison ministry.

From 2008, an annual Revival Camp would be organised and conducted over 34 days. The Revival Camp would be held at KBS and all the local churches from the whole province were invited. They came together to hear God's Word and fellowship with one another. KBS would provide the food, lodging and transportation for all attendees. The size of the campers range between 600 and 1,300 attendees. In 2017, it will be the 10th Revival Camp.

Life BPC continues to provide financial support to Rev Hahn and KBS as well as mission trips to conduct theological training, Youth Seminar and Vacation Bible School (VBS) for children. Life BPC also conducted Medical and Dental mission trip to Kompongsom.

From 1998 to 2017, with the start of KBS, God has blessed the work of KBS with many outreaches and converts. They include ministries at Pailin, Sihanoukville, Kohkong, Kompot, Ratanakiri, Kratie, Kompongcham, Kompongthom, and Phnom Penh.
